Client: We Care Campaign
A groundbreaking film that amplifies the voices of unpaid carers during National Carers Week.
Challenge
We Care approached us with a need for a powerful short film that would capture the lived experiences of unpaid carers and raise awareness of their campaign's mission.
Unpaid carers are often overlooked and unrecognised, so this film was an opportunity to elevate their voices and show the world the challenges they face every day.

Our unique approach
Our goal was to create a film that felt completely authentic and was driven by the stories of real unpaid carers. To achieve this, we embarked on a lengthy and in-depth research process, contacting and gathering stories from carers all over the country. Through this process, we crafted a bespoke poem that captured the hidden realities and struggles of unpaid carers.
With the poem as our inspiration, we filmed with a number of unpaid carers, capturing their everyday experiences in their own homes and communities. Using a small crew allowed us to blend seamlessly into these sensitive environments and build strong relationships with our contributors, who became actively involved in the filmmaking process.
Results
Upon releasing the film, We Care Campaign garnered a massive following online, with thousands of people sharing and commenting on the film, calling it a truly authentic and powerful representation of the lived experiences of unpaid carers.
The films impact reached far beyond social media, as We Care Campaign was invited to Parliament to screen the film for MPs and decision-makers.
In early 2023, the film achieved its crowning achievement by winning the Charity Film Award in London. This prestigious award was a testament to the film's power and impact, and it further cemented its place as a must-see for anyone who cares about the lives of unpaid carers.
“It’s such a powerful film and so much better than I had ever imagined. It’s really something special. All of the team just burst into tears as soon as we first saw it.
We realised very early on that we could trust Northern Heart’s instincts with the film and their vision.
The film become Twitter’s top tweet during National Carers Week which is unbelievable. The film has got us in front of so many more people and is still being used to this day.
Northern Heart clearly care and have a passion for what they do. We couldn’t of asked for a better company to go on the creative journey with.”
